Abstract

Theophilus Okere's groundbreaking work in African philosophy has significantly contributed to the development of hermeneutics in the African context. Okere's innovative framework, which centers on the concepts of Egbe Bere and Ugo Bere, offers a nuanced understanding of Igbo peace ethics and social justice. Despite the importance of Okere's work, his contributions to African hermeneutics remain understudied and underappreciated. This paper aims to revitalize the relevance of Okere's philosophical legacy, particularly his hermeneutical framework, to contemporary discussions in African philosophy.
